JOIN THE DIOCESAN CHOIR!
Do you like to sing or play music?
Would you like to meet other young people of faith?
Want to share your gifts and talents to praise the Lord?
MTL Youth Mission, in collaboration with the Centre Étudiant Dominicum (CéDum), invites you to join the diocesan choir for the Christ the King Vigil, under the direction of Anne Duforet.
On the occasion of the Vigil of Christ the King for World Youth Day, the choir will play a key role during the adoration evening, accompanying participants in a time of prayer and encounter with Christ. Through their music, they invite participants to enter into an atmosphere of prayerful reflection, with their eyes fixed on Christ the King in the Blessed Sacrament.
24 NOV 2024 ––Mass of Christ the King
In local parishes
It is important for young people to belong to and be involved in a community. Therefore, the concluding Mass of WYD Montréal is celebrated in the parishes.
Within the liturgy, parishes are encouraged to involve young people, to offer up their intentions and to give them a special blessing. Beyond the liturgy, parishes are encouraged to creatively celebrate the young people in their community.
For young people who are unaffiliated, this Sunday Mass may allow them to find a parish that they can call home.
WYD Cross
The World Youth Day cross offered to youth during Montreal’s diocesan WYD celebrations is a powerful symbol of faith, unity, and hope. Modeled after the official World Youth Day Cross that travels the world, this cross is distributed to youth from across the diocese who participate in the WYD Teen Festival and Christ the King Vigil, inspiring them in their journey to follow Christ.
WYD MTL Cross
Each year, a young person designs this cross, drawing inspiration from the Pope’s message and the WYD theme. It invites youth to share the light of Christ courageously and serve others with open hearts.
The Cross of Hope – 2024
Those who hope in the Lord will run and not be weary
(cf. Is 40:31)
“The logo on the cross was inspired by Pope Francis’ message to the young people as well as the passage “Those who hope in the Lord… will run and not be weary” (Is 40:31) which Pope Francis wants us to take inspiration from for World Youth Day 2024 and in preparation for Jubilee 2025.
I drew a silhouette of a pilgrim running towards God. The cross represents a guide for the pilgrim but also a source of hope. The zigzag line underneath the pilgrim represents our journey. I chose a zigzag line because our journey is never really a straight line. Our path can be unpredictable and we all experience the highs and lows of life.
I drew a heart inside the pilgrim to showcase that we are a pilgrim of hope and love. Pope Francis encourages us to keep our hearts open to praise God for his many gifts, especially the gift of life. Thus, the heart symbol is also included to represent the gift of life.”

Pillars Trust
Thank you to Pillars Trust for your generous support of Mission Jeunesse Youth Ministry.
WYD Cross donated by Œuvre des Vocations du Diocèse de Montréal
The WYD cross is generously donated by Œuvre des Vocations du Diocèse de Montréal. It is offered and distributed by men and women who have embraced their vocational call—whether through marriage, consecrated life, the priesthood, or diaconate—as well as by youth ministers and committed laypeople. Together, these witnesses remind young people that following God’s call is possible. Their example fosters a culture of vocations, encouraging each young person to discern, “What is God calling me to?” and to share this journey with friends and family.
The Basics
A prophetic initiative by St. John Paul II
Initiated by Saint John Paul II in 1984, World Youth Days (WYD) continue to “play an important part in the lives of many young people, since they offer a living experience of faith and communion that can help them meet life’s great challenges and responsibly take their place in society and in the Church”.
An international and local celebration
World Youth Days are celebrated internationally every few years. Locally, within dioceses and eparchies, they are celebrated yearly on the Feast of Christ the King in November.
In Montréal
WYD Montréal (WYD MTL) is an annual week-long diocesan celebration for the Archdiocese of Montreal that culminates at the Solemnity of Christ the King in late November.
Objectives
I. Create an experience where young people can encounter Christ
II. Empower young people to be protagonists
“I imagined the World Youth Days as a powerful moment in which the young people of the world could meet Christ, who is eternally young, and could learn from him how to be bearers of the Gospel to other young people.”
– St. John Paul II, WYD Toronto 2002
