General Questions

I am a registered pilgrim, or a parent of a registered pilgrim. Who should I speak to if I have questions?

For all questions, please contact your group leader. Their role is to ensure communication between your group and the Mission Jeunesse team. Respecting this line of communication ensures that the group leader stays up to date with all the developments of the group.

I do not have a group. Can I participate in the pilgrimage?

Mission Jeunesse MTL coordinates pilgrimages as a diocesan delegation, bringing together and accompanying groups from across the diocese. When young adults experience a pilgrimage with a group from their parish, movement, or community, they are supported and accompanied on their faith journey through fellowship within their group, while also sharing in the vibrant experience of being part of the larger pilgrim community.

However, here are the options for pilgrims who do not have a group.

Option 1 : Form your own group

It only takes 3 people to form and register a group

Option 2 : Contact Mission Jeunesse

Mission Jeunesse is also able to propose groups that are open to welcome pilgrims who do not belong to a group. However, there is no guarantee that we can find you a group.

What is the minimum age to participate in a pilgrimage with Mission Jeunesse MTL?

For all international pilgrimages, the Mission Jeunesse MTL Youth Ministry Office of the Archdiocese of Montreal has chosen to respect and follow the guideline given by the CCCB: “… The minimum age of 18 is to assist diocesan and eparchial delegations and other groups in ensuring the supervision and safety of youth participants.” wydcanada.org www.cccb.ca

Mission Jeunesse MTL follows the diocesan guidelines of responsible pastoral ministry.

Can a minor participate in WYD?

For all international pilgrimages, the Mission Jeunesse MTL Youth Ministry Office of the Archdiocese of Montreal has chosen to respect and follow the guideline given by the CCCB: “… The minimum age of 18 is to assist diocesan and eparchial delegations and other groups in ensuring the supervision and safety of youth participants.” wydcanada.org www.cccb.ca

Mission Jeunesse MTL follows the diocesan guidelines of responsible pastoral ministry.

In certain very exceptional cases, pastoral exceptions can be made at the Mission Jeunesse – Youth Ministry WYD coordination team’s discretion to permit the participation of minors of 17 years old on the date of departure, who travel with their adult PARENT or LEGAR GUARDIAN.

  • The minor must be 17 years old on the day of departure, and must travel with their PARENT or LEGAL GUARDIAN.
  • The PARENT or LEGAL GUARDIAN must accompany the minor AT ALL TIMES DURING THE PILGRIMAGE
  • The PARENT or LEGAL GUARDIAN cannot assume any other leadership role besides accompanying the minor.

Please note that at international pilgrimages it is not unusual for pilgrims to be separated for accommodations according to their gender. It is therefore strongly recommended they be of the same gender of the minor.

Please read the TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR MINORS PARTICPATING IN WYD WITH A PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN

MJ-Youth Ministry reserves the right NOT to accept the registration of minors if they do not meet conditions below, even if they complete their online registration with payment.

I am over 35 years old. Can I register to a pilgrimage with my group?

Mission Jeunesse MTL organizes pilgrimages for young adults 18-35 y.o. To promote the protagonism of young people, we recommend that communities give a priority to young adults participating in pilgrimages with Mission jeunesse MTL as pilgrims (18-35 y.o.), as group leader (20-35 y.o.) and assistant (20-35 y.o.).

A limited number of Youth Ministers (clergy, men and women of consecrated life, and lay people formed in accompanying youth) 36 y.o. and over may take on the role of spiritual companions, and must follow the diocesan requirements for responsible pastoral ministry. Mission Jeunesse Montreal reserves the right not to accept any registration if the person does not meet the required criteria and conditions even if they complete their online registration with payment.

Forming a group

How many pilgrims are needed to form a group?

At least three pilgrims are needed to form a group.

And if we are less than three pilgrims, is it still possible to form a group?

Contact Mission Jeunesse

Mission Jeunesse is also able to propose groups that are open to welcome pilgrims who do not belong to a group. However, there is no guarantee that we can find you a group.

Terms and Conditions

What are the terms and conditions?

NO FLIGHT PACKAGES – TRANSFERS

I chose a NO FLIGHT package. On the day of arrival, can I join the transfer to the accommodations? On the day of the departure, can I join the transfer to the airport?

The NO FLIGHT packages do not include transfers from the airprot to the accommodations, or from accommodations to the airport. It is the responsibility of the pilgrim to coordinate their own transfers to and from the airport.

If I take a NO FLIGHT option and do not use the transfer, where do I meet my group?

Please note that the specific locations for accommodation and events will be communicated to your group leaders, who will then provide you with the necessary information. Your group leaders will also guide you on alternative transportation options to reach the designated locations.

Payment and documentation

How do deposits and payments work?

  • All deposits and payments are to be done by credit card. Deposits in cash will not be accepted.
  • A non-refundable deposit is required at the time of registration, with no exceptions. View the Payment Schedule and Amounts for details.
  • If registration happens after multiple payments have become due, all past-due payments must be made at the time of registration.
  • For next deposits: Payments will be automatically processed on each due date according to the schedule. Pilgrims will receive a notification 3 days and 1 day before the automatic payment (check your spam folder). An automatic receipt and an updated invoice will be sent within 2 to 3 business days.
  • Please note the cancellation policies in the Terms and Conditions.

Mission Jeunesse strongly recommends that the non-refundable first deposit be the responsibility of the individual who has decided to participate. We live in a world where circumstances and plans can change quickly, so it is essential to foster commitment and protect your investment. By inviting the pilgrim to pay the first deposit, communities encourage a sense of responsibility and dedication from the pilgrim.

You will receive the following documents ONLY after completing Phase 2 – Individual Registration with first deposit and a valid copy of your passport (not expired).

    • Proof of registration with the Mission Jeunesse MTL delegation
    • Confirmation of flight itinerary from Spiritours (except for NO FLIGHT packages)
    • Proof of registration for the pilgrimage.

Where do I apply for my visa?

At the consulate or embassy of the country(ies) of destination and of transit.

When should I apply for my visa?

Submitting an incomplete application could significantly delay the processing of the application and even lead to a refusal from the Consulate. It is therefore recommended to complete your individual application as soon as possible and to update your passport if it is not valid for travel.
