Prayers of the faithful

On this Solemnity of Christ the King, you remind us, Lord, that it is wonderful to work with you for the coming of your kingdom. With the young people participating in this diocesan WYD, for them and for our brothers and sisters in our world, we dare to cry out to you in faith

R/ Grant that we may rise up and become true witnesses of your Kingdom.

Eternal King, you desire that we know you and live in intimacy with you. Make us attentive to your Word of life. By welcoming it, may we hear and respond to the cries of our brothers and sisters. R/

King of our lives, you want to save everyone. Revive in our hearts the need to commit ourselves, to love you with all our strength and to identify ourselves with the mission of the Church. R/

King of the universe, you want us to walk together listening to the spirit that whispers in us. Send us into the heart of the world, into our families, our neighborhoods, our workplaces, our places of study, and to those whom no one cares for. R/

King of glory, you desire that we let down the wall that prevents us from knowing ourselves in truth. May your light enlighten us and make us authentic, sincere and true Christians. R/

Merciful King. You count on us to show the Father’s concern for his children, to console the suffering, to forgive evil and to offer a smile by sharing with those who have nothing. May your spirit teach us to show your love and salvation around us. R/

Lord our God. Accept these prayers that your family presents to you, and deign to answer them so that, by your grace, our lives may be a testimony that gives glory to your name. Through Jesus Christ our Lord.

R. Amen.

A special blessing for young people

Almighty God, you never cease to show your goodness to those who love you, and you let yourself be found by those who seek you. As we celebrate the eternal Kingship of your Christ, and as our young people begin this stage of their spiritual pilgrimage, we humbly pray: Be favorable to your children and direct their path according to your will. Be the voice that echoes in their conscience, the light that shines in the darkness and invites them to set out on their journey, the presence that urges them to give of themselves without counting the cost, so that they may reach the end of their pilgrimage happily under your care. Through Jesus, the Christ, our Lord. R. Amen.

May the King of the universe open your inner eyes so that you may know how to see Him, recognize His voice and listen to Him. May He lead you to His salvation. R. Amen.

May He give you the ability to rise up, to truly discover yourself, to overcome the obstacles of life and to follow Him. R. Amen.

May He help you to understand that his Son is counting on you. Offer Him your hearts, your intelligence and your many and varied talents for the transformation of the Church and the world. R. Amen.

And may God himself bless you, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. R. Amen.

An Announcement Template

On Sunday, November 21, 2021, on the Solemnity of Christ the King, World Youth Day will be held in every diocese. In his message to young people, Pope Francis invites them to accept the Lord’s invitation: “Stand up. I appoint you as a witness of what you have seen.”! This is an opportunity for our young people, and us with them, to commit ourselves to witnessing with confidence and unfailing determination that Christ is alive.

In our diocese, several activities are organized for our youth by Mission Jeunesse Montreal, the Youth Ministry Office in collaboration with partners from the network. We invite you to participate fully. May we pray for them so that, by taking part in these days, they will let themselves be challenged by the message that Christ addresses to them through his Church, have a true experience of encounter with Him and decide to witness to His wonderful, beneficial and transforming presence in the Church and in the world.

An Invitation to Involve Young People in the Liturgy

If possible, each parish will involve the youth in the liturgy. The youth can participate in these in various ways. Here are some suggestions:

• Readers for the readings and prayers of the faithful at today’s Mass.
• Acolytes
• Testimony: To speak about their Christian commitment in the parish or elsewhere;
• Testimony of a young person who has already participated in WYD here in Montreal or elsewhere
